Greek Opera Studio – Vocal Program in Syros
The Greek Opera Studio in conjunction with The International Festival of the Aegean and MidAm International is a summer vocal program suited to young artists focusing on opera, career entry level singers, and advanced university students. For special talents under the age of 20, we have incorporated an extended apprentice program suited to singers interested in classical vocal training, as well as pianists interested in searching experience in a vocal coaching career.
The Participants in this program will have the opportunity to study and work with a high level international staff, perform a childrens opera, cover all Festival concert performances with orchestra, perform in concerts and recitals around the island, and be featured in scenes for the final GOS Gala in the Apollo Theater (La Piccola Scala). The Greek Opera Studio 2015 participants will perform childrens performances, all roles in Henry Molicone’s Face on the bar room floor, all roles in Suor Angelica by Puccini.
They will will also be selected to cover leading roles, sing smaller roles, or sing in the chorus in the main stage Festival opera with orchestra of the Greek tragedy, Cherubini’s MEDEA. The covers will work directly with the stage director and production staff in a cover rehearsal on stage at the Apollo Theater. This collaboration of Festival and Studio is an opportunity for the Greek Opera Studio participants to merge directly with the production and international artists.
GOS Dance was first incorporated in the summer of 2013. Dancers were lead by Choreographer and teacher, Deanna Carter. They participated in the main stage opera of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and the GOS Gala. In 2015, training includes Daily class and Master Classes with special guest artists.
The Greek Opera Studio will provide private coachings, private vocal lessons, public master classes, movement/dance classes, acting, career placement and presentation. The staff will include teachers and artists who have worked in the world’s most respected music and opera venues such as Carnegie Hall, La Scala, San Francisco Opera/Ballet, the Deutsche Oper, Stuttgart Opera, Bellas Artes Mexico City and Vienna State Opera, to name a few. The staff, including individuals who work in the business now, and will provide individual direction to the young artists who desire an opera career.
